Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir Invest in Order of Canada

Retired Canadian ice dancing couple Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir will add another medal to their storied career after receiving the Order of Canada.

The most decorated ice dancers in the sport’s history, Virtue and Moir, will receive one of the country’s highest honors in a ceremony Wednesday at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, the Governor’s Office announced.

“They inspire tomorrow’s figure skaters by demonstrating graceful strength and chemistry, and by being proud supporters of Special Olympics Canada, promoting inclusivity in sport,” a statement from the Governor’s office read. “There is no question that they are a force to be reckoned with as partners, and they also support their communities as individuals.”

The three-time gold medalist says it’s her career after the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Partnered on ice for more than 20 years, the pair captured the hearts of the figure skating community with their chemistry and emotional performances.

The pair announced their retirement in 2019, with More calling their careers “a beautiful journey”.
